Spotlight Tuesday With Alexa Verde with a GiveAway

Alexa Verde writes sweet, wholesome books about faith, love, and murder. She penned her first literary masterpiece, a rhymed poem, at the ripe age of eight, and since has had 200 short stories, articles, and poems published in the five languages that she speaks. She has bachelor's degrees in English and Spanish and a master's in Russian. She's worn the hats of reporter, teacher, translator, model (even one day counts!), caretaker, and secretary, but thinks that the writer's hat suits her the best. After traveling the world and living in both hemispheres, she calls a small town in south Texas home. The latter is an inspiration for the fictional setting of her popular series Rios Azules Christmas and Secrets of Rios Azules.

Interview

In your bio, it says you speak five languages. And those languages are…
English, Russian, Belarusian, Spanish, and German. Frankly, I start forgetting German, though I used to speak it fluently. It’s fun for me to learn new languages, and once upon a time I wanted to learn Japanese, but then I decided I needed to keep up with the ones I already know.
You love traveling. Does it reflect in your books?
I enjoy learning about other cultures, and I write about culturally diverse characters. I’ve traveled to Germany, France, Russia, Poland, Lithuania, and other countries. In Book 2 in my Rios Azules Christmas series, Season of Joy, the heroine is a travel reporter who has to choose between a trip of a lifetime and true love. I admit that I love to eat, so I mention national dishes of different countries in several of my books.
What is the destination you’ve never been to but would like to visit?
Jerusalem.
Do you have an outline before you start writing a book?
Usually an idea comes to my mind, and that can happen anywhere (often the ideas come to me in my dreams!). Then I start asking myself, what would happen next? Sometimes I have no clue where the book will take me, and I have to write faster because I want to know what will happen to the characters!
How readers can help an author?
Anything readers do to encourage an author and help spread the word matters very much. Heartfelt thanks, Debbie, for writing reviews! Every review means a lot to me and puts a huge smile on my face, as well as help other readers find new books. Recommending books to friends, posting on social media, sharing author’s posts, commenting and liking posts about books helps tremendously, too. And I treasure every reader’s letter more than I can express. I’m so grateful to all my readers.
Do you have a new or an upcoming release you’d like to talk about?
I’m happy to announce a new release! Book 4 in the Secrets of Rios Azules series, Touch of Danger, was published on September 1st and was #1 New Release in Hispanic American literature on Amazon at the time. Of course, it might be a small category, and the status was gone almost as soon as I blinked, but I’m so thankful to the readers who downloaded Touch of Danger. All books in the series are set in a small south Texas town, Rios Azules (Blue Rivers in Spanish). Welcome to Rios Azules, where rivers and emotions run deep, and the secrets are deadly.

About the latest book:
Rookie cop Ivan Vargas blames small-town accountant Julia
Morrison for his brother’s suicide, as claimed in the note. When Julia is attacked, Ivan wonders if she’s right about the suicide being staged. He’s determined to find his brother’s killer and keep Julia safe but reluctant to lose his heart to the stubborn beauty who's known to break them…

Hurt in the past, Julia has avoided letting men too close. But she needs Ivan’s help to uncover traumatic secrets someone would kill to keep hidden. Can she stay alive long enough to learn to love and trust again?

I’ll be happy to give a Kindle copy of my new book, Touch of Danger, to one randomly chosen commenter to this post.
