About the Book
"Shattered Memories" is a 265 page novel in the Christian Historical genre and was released on February 14, 2016.
The Charleston earthquake has left destruction like nothing Doctor Andrew Warwick has ever seen. On a desperate mission to find the lady who owns his heart, he frantically searches through the rubble. He finds her injured and lifeless. After she regains consciousness, the doctor’s hopes are quickly dashed as he realizes she doesn’t remember him. Things only get worse when he discovers she believes she’s still engaged to the abusive scoundrel, Lloyd Pratt. Now Drew is on a race with the wedding clock to either help her remember or win her heart again before she marries the wrong man.
Waking in a makeshift hospital, Olivia Macqueen finds herself recovering from a head injury. With amnesia stealing a year of her memories, she has trouble discerning between lies and truth. When her memories start returning in bits and pieces, she must keep up the charade of amnesia until she can find out the truth behind the embezzlement of her family’s business while evading the danger lurking around her.

My Review: "Shattered Memories" by Debbie Lynn Costello is the first in the (Charleston Earthquake Series). I can hardly wait for Book Two! I was hooked from the first chapter and wanted to finish the book in a hurry and then when I was done I wanted to read more.
"Shattered Memories" is a story filled with mystery and romance. The scenes are described so very well that the reader can see the destruction and the action in their mind's eye. But, at the same time they are not over powering with useless information.
This book is based on the real Charleston earthquake that happened in 1886.
If you want to know more about what "Shattered Memories" is about read the above description but I want to share with you what I think about the book.
Like I stated in the first sentence of this review I was hooked at the beginning and there were moments I wanted to literally cry. Yes, the book has sad parts but that is what makes this book great! Yes, there were moments that made me want to laugh aloud. There were also times I wanted to warn the characters to be aware, danger is coming!
I wanted to jump in the pages and give most of the characters a hug and tell them it was going to be ok.
This is a story of forgiveness and love at it's best.
This is a story of forgiveness and love at it's best.
I encourage you to read "Shattered Memories" and learn how a community and families help others when a tragic happens.
Yes, this is also a clean love story but you don't know if love is going to win or not till the end of the story. No, I am not going to tell you the answer, if you want to know "read the story".
There is a little violence in the story with fighting and hurting of women and guns are involved in the story but nothing that would cause readers to be leery of reading this book.
I am giving "Shattered Memories" five stars.

ReplyDeleteDid you see my question I asked to be entered in the drawing
DeleteSorry I missed that lol. I have been in a small tornado that went right in front of my house. We had some really nasty ones a couple of years ago here and I didn't help clean up but we went looking at all the destruction and it was scary to see how much damage can be done.
DeleteI am really fortunate I haven't been anywhere close to anything like this
DeleteGood Luck, Debbie! Rachel, I'm so sorry about the tornado. I have a real fear of those things. They are so unpredictable. I'm glad you are okay.
DeleteForgot to say, GOOD LUCK in the giveaways Rachel!

DeleteIt is really good! Sue
ReplyDeleteI forgot to post my answer to the question, lol.
ReplyDeleteWhen my children were young we had a tornado go through our neighborhood. It felt like an other worldly experience. We all had some cleaning up to do in the neighborhood. But thankfully, it was mainly all superficial with trees down, porch roofs collapsed, Windows broken or chimneys down. Only a few houses were badly damaged and nobody was hurt or killed. So we were all lucky. :)

God is good! So glad no one was hurt.
DeleteI'm looking forward to reading Shattered Memories. I enjoy books based on historical events.
ReplyDeleteI forgot to say, yes I've been through a tornado. Thankful mild damage to our homes but severe damage in other areas of our town.
DeleteHey Marilyn, so glad it was minor damage and no injuries! Thanks for coming by.
DeleteI've been fortunate to never have been in a natural disaster! God has been looking out for us because the year after I moved from Illinois to Oregon (1996), there was a tornado that touched down near where I lived. No damage from what I heard but still very scary. And then the year we moved from Oregon to Illinois (2006-2008), that winter there was a severe rain/wind storm that came through and knocked out power for almost a week. Many trees fell and caused a lot of damage to houses and businesses. God was definitely watching out for us and protecting our family!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your review, participation in the blog hop and giveaway! I've had a lot of fun reading each stop, I'd really love to win this book :-) It's on my must read list.
Hey Trixi. So glad you've never had to experience a natural disaster. We've been through a few things that caused us to lose power for 2 weeks. No fun. :o)
DeleteNo I have not ever been in a big natural disaster Thank God but I imagine it would be horrible to experience Thanks for the chance to win
ReplyDeleteand I am a feedburner follower also
Hey Linda! I've never been through an earthquake or a tornado. But have seen a hurricane. That was enough for me! Thanks for coming by and good luck in the giveaways!
DeleteWe did have a tornado go through about 10 miles away but it was in like 85 so I was young and don't remember it but we'll pretend I wasn't even born yet so I don't age myself LOL
DeleteWe have had hurricane damage a couple times but nothing major. We live in South Alabama.
ReplyDeleteHey Emilee, We live in state in SC and in 1889 we were hit by a hurricane. They couldn't believe it made it so far in state. We lost power for 2 weeks. It caused so much damage it was unbelievable.
DeleteYes, I live about 1/8 of a mile from a tornado when I lived in Ohio 1985. That was no a pretty site, and I was there to help with the people that was in need, clean up, food, water.. Or just a shoulder to lean on.
ReplyDeleteThat was so kind of you to help those people out. I know that must have been a hard time for them and your kindness touched them in more ways that you'll know.
DeleteNew author for me looking forward to reading your books.
