About the Book
Title: Sons of Blackbird Mountain
Author: Joanne Bischof
Genre:Historical Romance
After the tragic death of her husband, Aven Norgaard is beckoned to give up her life in Norway to become a housekeeper in the rugged hills of Nineteenth-Century Appalachia. Upon arrival, she finds herself in the home of her late husband’s cousins—three brothers who make a living by brewing hard cider on their three-hundred acre farm. Yet even as a stranger in a foreign land, Aven has hope to build a new life in this tight-knit family. But her unassuming beauty disrupts the bond between the brothers. The youngest two both desire her hand, and Aven is caught in the middle, unsure where—and whether—to offer her affection. While Haakon is bold and passionate, it is Thor who casts the greatest spell upon her. Though Deaf, mute, and dependent on hard drink to cope with his silent pain, Thor possesses a sobering strength. As autumn ushers in the apple harvest, the rift between Thor and Haakon deepens and Aven faces a choice that risks hearts. Will two brothers’ longing for her quiet spirit tear apart a family? Can she find a tender belonging in this remote, rugged, and unfamiliar world? A haunting tale of struggle and redemption, Sons of Blackbird Mountain is a portrait of grace in a world where the broken may find new life through the healing mercy of love.

My Review:
"Sons of Blackbird Mountain" by Joanne Bischof is a wonderful story of love and not giving up on your dreams. It is also a story that is filled with trials and sorrows.
I think I felt sorrow for all the characters but I have too say that my greatest sorrow was for Thor. Why, you might ask, well because it is because he is deaf, and people don't really listen to him when he tries to speak. Although I am not deaf, I do understand trying to explain myself and no one seems to understand what I'm really saying.
This book was written so well that I could imagine myself watching the scenes unfold as I read them.
I am so glad to know that there is another book coming because the ending left me wanting to read more of Aven and the three brothers.
This book is technicalmore than just a romance, it is a story of how love can change a person.
This book covers many issues, death and suicide, alcoholism, attempted rape and physical abuse but don't let this sentence stop you from reading the book because these subjects are not too detailed and the book does show redemption.
I like that the author tells in the story the sign language Thor uses. She does this as part of the story and not in a technical way or anyway boring.
I recommend this book to anyone that needs to know there is Joy After Heartache and to anyone that likes historical romance.
There is also a history fact about Alexander Graham Bell. It is fun to learn facts in reading fiction.
I was given a complimentary copy by the author and Celebrate Lit. These opinions are my own.
Definitely a 5 star novel.
