Ana Brassfield has her path to the stage of the Metropolitan Opera House all figured out until her first love, renowned German dancer Claus Gert, returns to Georgia to win her back. Despite a promising start towards her ballet career and pending marriage to landscape architect, Peter Engberg, Ana wonders if her dreams of dancing at the Met are as impossible as her previous romantic relationship with Claus.
Then, an on-stage kiss between Ana and Claus changes everything.
Convinced the kiss is more than a one-time mistake, Peter breaks off their engagement. With an old dog crippled by arthritis and dreams deferred but not left behind, Ana moves to Germany to be with Claus. But the ghost of his late wife, Ana’s own feelings for Peter, and the pressure of earning a spot in a large ballet company are a high price for a shot at success. Ana seems on the verge of having everything she ever dreamed of, but will it be enough?

" A Season to Dance" by Patricia Beal is a wonderful book about second chances along with forgiveness by both God and other people.
I love this quote from the author herself "A Season to Dance isn’t just the story of a small-town professional ballerina who dreams of dancing at the Met in New York and the two men who love her. It’s also the story of a girl desperately trying to fill the God-shaped hole in her heart with often misguided career and romantic pursuits.". I like it because it really does described the book truthfully.
This book had my attention from the beginning to the end. I really would love to watch this novel come to life in a movie.
This story does have the characters drinking alcohol, it seemed a lot to me, but I don't believe in drinking at all, so this opinion is probably biased. It also talks about premarital intimacy but it isn't really in detail. Neither of these two points should be reason that you choose not to read this book. I recommend this book to all readers who likes stories of how characters change and become who God created them to be along with readers who likes romance stories that are more than just romance.
I don't know anything about ballet except it amazing me how the dancers can make all those turns and be so graceful. This book does deal with ballet dancing and even through when the some of steps were part of the text and I didn't know what the characters were doing, it didn't distract from the story at all.
This story's ending is both happy and sad. I really had no idea that it would end the way it did. When I finished reading the last chapter I wanted to keep reading. I would most definitely be watching for more books from Patricia Beal.
Even through the book isn't listed as Christian genre, the salvation message is shared.
I received a complimentary copy by the author and Celebrate Lit. These opinions are my own.
