My Review
"Escape: Intense, Book 1 " by Glenn Haggerty is written for children but this 59 year old reader loved it. It was a fast paced intense read. Tyler wants to be a cool kid so he follows Dustin's lead which leads to trouble.  The book starts out with “I’d never seen a dead body before, but I was pretty sure the guy in the car trunk was dead.”, and then describes the rest of the action and then tells the story of what lead to them being there to be in that kind of trouble.

This story tells what happens when you follow someone just to be part of the cool crowd, you definitely get what you don't want.

This is the first book in the series and I have added the other two books to my to be read list.

I don't know if I should admit this, but I will, I laughed out loud at the end because "Life isn't fair".

I was given a complimentary copy by the author and Celebrate Lit. These opinions are my own.

Author Bio:
Besides being a member and active participant of many writing groups, Carole Brown enjoys mentoring beginning writers. An author of ten books, she loves to weave suspense and tough topics into her books, along with a touch of romance and whimsy, and is always on the lookout for outstanding titles and catchy ideas. She and her husband reside in SE Ohio but have ministered and counseled nationally and internationally. Together, they enjoy their grandsons, traveling, gardening, good food, the simple life, and did she mention their grandsons?

My Review:
"Sabotaged Christmas" by Carole Brown is a mystery that is based on a secrets.

It was a fast and easy read. There were a few scenes that I was thinking I don't like where this is leading but I am glad I finished the book and glad it didn't end up like I thought it was going to!

This is a story that clearly shows that things and gossip isn't always what it appears to be.

"Sabotaged Christmas" by Carole Brown is the first in the series and I have read them all and they are all great reading.

"Sabotaged Christmas" by Carole Brown is not really a book about Christmas in my opinion, it is written around Christmas but the story isn't really about Christmas. Though I feel it isn't a Christmas story I still recommend reading it anytime of the year.

This story doesn't preach, but Toni definitely lets others know that she is a Christian and she puts her faith and her relationship with Jesus first before a relationship with a love interest.

The ending will definitely surprise readers, if they are like me and can't guess who the bad guy is.

This series is definitely one that I recommend if you like mysteries with a clean love story mixed in.

I was given a complimentary copy by the author and Celebrate Lit. These opinions are my own.

"Hold Me Close" by Marguerite Martin Gray

Blurb

The leisurely life Louis has intended does not include revolution.

Charles Town, South Carolina, 1772—Louis Lestarjette arrives from France without purpose or plans beyond reconnecting with family and making a profit. Finding the town questioning its alliances, Louis must make decisions about the direction in his life, even as he tries to avoid all political conflict. He wonders if he will be able to stay neutral in a battle for independence. When decisive events confront him, Louis finds himself torn between staying with the woman he loves or escaping the coming conflicts.

Elizabeth Elliott trusts that God will hold her close in uncertain and changing times. Faced with difficult decisions about her loyalties, she finds comfort in close friends, a devout sister, and her music. When the mysterious Frenchman with no commitment to God or Charles Town enters her life, he challenges her role in the political battle. She must decide what actions she can take for the cause, if any at all.

My Review:
"Hold Me Close" by Marguerite Martin Gray is a book that is based mostly on history, pre-American Revolution and The Sons Of Liberty. Since the story is also fictional the author has taken liberties and added facts that aren't part of this time era. But, unless you are a history buff you don't notice these, another reader pointed them out to me but that fact didn't make any difference in my enjoyment of the story.

"Hold Me Close" is the first book in the (Revolutionary Faith series) and I really enjoyed it for the most part. I really liked that Louis Lestarjette changed into a character that wasn't greedy, which is how he appeared at the beginning of the story.

The story was interwoven with Biblical truth all through the novel and reminds the reader that God does "Hold Us Close" at all times.

The ending is a little disappointing because it leaves you hanging as to the outcome of Louis and Elizabeth but that could be because this is book one, I am anxiously awaiting book two, I want to know how the love story ends!

I wrote this review a while ago when I first read the book and all I can add is that the book has been edited and has a new cover, which is a better and prettier cover to me.

I was given a complimentary copy Of "Hold Me Close" by Celebrate Lit and the author and the opinions I have expressed are my own.

My Review:
"Catching Christmas"by Terri Blackstock  is a book that I cried while reading it! It was a great story but it deals with Christmas and a grandmother having dementia and cancer. I really hope I am not giving a spoiler alert here but both Sydney and Finn mothers have died in the past.

This is a story about a grandmother who wants to make her last Christmas with her granddaughter the best one she has ever had.  Even though this book is centered on Christmas, I believe it can be read anytime. It is a story of love and forgiveness. Both Finn and Sydney learn to forgive themselves.

I recommend this book to all readers who like stories that pulls at your heartstrings and to anyone that like Christmas stories but I recommend having tissues handy.

"Catching Christmas" by Terri Blackstock  would make a great Hallmark Christmas movie.

I was given a complimentary copy by the author and Celebrate Lit. These opinions are my own.

Excerpt from the Book

1813 THE ENGLISH COUNTRYSIDE I often wonder what my life would have been like if I had never learned the truth. I wouldn’t have set off as I did for Croft Towers. I never would have met him. It’s strange what I remember about the day I left London. The mail coach was late; the weather wretched. The clock had struck midnight long before two strangers and I ducked beneath the postmaster’s outstretched umbrella to board the Royal Mail and rumble across the North Downs. That difficult journey east marked the beginning of an unseasonably cold autumn. Frigid rain pelted the coach windows. The undercarriage squealed beneath the seats as a metallic scent wound its way between the drafty boards. I gripped the windowsill, wondering if the coachman intended to hit every bump in the road. “Far to go, miss?” The woman’s voice startled me. Dressed head to toe in red satin, she’d endured the last few darkened hours with a handful of smelling salts and a tongue hot for complaints, but she hadn’t spoken to me until now. Not until the first hint of rain-soaked daylight peeked over the horizon. I lowered my gaze and fiddled with my bonnet ribbons. “Yes, ma’am . . . well, not too much farther, I hope.” Taken from “In the Shadow of Croft Towers” by Abigail Wilson.
