"Shadows Of Pain" by Ashley Dawn

Back Cover Copy
Revenge is sweet…unless you are on the receiving end of it.

“Do you know of anyone who would want…you dead?”

Officer Daniel Jenkins was no stranger to the dangers his job posed but usually he knew who was trying to kill him. Being stalked was a completely different ball game, and he wasn’t sure there were any rules…

“…I need you.”

Terrified didn’t even begin to describe how Kami felt with the stalker targeting her. As an FBI agent you were trained to handle stressful situations, but being the victim put the whole process in a different light.

As the killer gets closer, so do Kami and Daniel, but will they live long enough to see their love bloom?

Only God can save them from this unknown killer…

My Review:
"Shadows Of Pain" by Ashley Dawn is the third book in the series and just as exciting as the other two. These books really keep readers turning the pages to see if the law agencies get the criminal. These books all end with a cliff hanger but it does end the current story, just leads into a new story.

It has been many books ago since I have read the other two books in this series but I believe
"Shadows Of Pain" has more close calls on the characters lives than the others. These books are clean love stories along with being mysteries and the main characters are Christians.

I was prepared to hate the ending of this book, but I ended up loving it because it didn't end up the way I thought it would.

I think a reader would love and enjoy reading Kami and Daniel's story but I really recommend reading the other two books first to get the complete story as these books continue where the one before leaves off.

I am glad I was able to read these books. I was given complimentary copies by the author and Celebrate Lit. These opinions are my own.

"The Path of the Chosen Warriors: A Christian Romantic Suspense" by Marshalee Patterson

“A story of Spiritual warfare: the perpetual fight of good over evil in a paranormal setting with demonic forces attempting to overcome the Christians in the community.
This story draws you in and holds your attention as you want to know what the final outcome will be. Who will triumph? Will the evil forces of Abaddon defeat the Christians? Will Ruth and Joshua escape from Sodom Shadows and return to their home in Shiloh City?

Suspense, action, intrigue and romance, in this story, which takes the reader to the realm where the struggle for supremacy takes place. ”

About Marshalee Patterson

Marshalee Patterson has loved reading since she could walk. Growing up without a television sparked in her a love for reading and the world of imagination. She wrote her first novella-Predestined Love after travelling to Italy and wanted to write a romance novel about it, but then left it on her computer, saying when it's time to publish it, the Lord would open that door for her.

It was five years later, that the Lord led her to another author- Claudette Brady Beckford, who guided her to the world of self-publishing. Since then the Lord has been teaching her a lot about spiritual warfare and understanding dreams and their importance. This led to her second book, a Christian Romance Thriller- 'The Path of the Chosen Warrior,' filled with lots of action about the demonic and the supernatural realm.

Her main focus of writing is Contemporary Christian Romance/family books which will uplift, encourage and teach readers how to walk right and also how to pray, through the lives of everyday characters. Marshalee loves dancing salsa and the tranquillity of nature.
She is a proud Jamaican.

My Review"
I really liked this novel. It is a love story and yes it is clean but I do have a problem with the characters because they spend alot of time together and stay together at night but supposedly not having a physical relationship when they are engaged.

I was drawn into the story and wanted to keep reading. There was not one time that I wanted to put the book down and not keep reading which surprised me because I am not usually a fan of novels that have an paranormal setting and theme.

I want to read more of these characters.
I won a copy of this book by the author on a Facebook chat and these opinions are my own.

My Review:
"Stratagem"by Robin Caroll is a book that is a good read. The plot is a A High-Stakes Simulation Adventure game that turns to murder.  The story is written partly as a murder investigation with the characters telling of what part they played leading up to the murder.

It was a very easy read and flowed along nicely.

It was hard not to think all the characters were guilty of the crime, in fact I was thinking the whole time I read the book that it was all part of the game and the murdered victim wasn't really murdered, but I was wrong. I am never good at figured out the guilty person in books I read or movies that I watch, maybe that is a good thing because it keeps me reading and watching.  I  really liked this book and was wrong about every assumption I made about every character. I am glad I was wrong because all these characters are people that I wanted to like and I ended up liking them all except the real killer.

I haven't watch movies like The Hunger Games and etc, but this book made me think I might want to.  But, "Stratagem" had a little faith factor in the story, by this statement, I mean the character of Grayson Thibodeaux is known to others as a Christian and lives by his faith, not that any preaching is included in the book.

This story is a story of trusting in someone even when the evidence shows trust is not deserved and forgiving even when it is hard.

The story is about adultery and abortion is talked about briefly.

I was given a complimentary copy by the author and Celebrate Lit. These opinions are my own.

Guest post from Robin

Behind the Scenes: Robin Caroll Shares Her Inspiration for Writing Stratagem Dear Reader, Thank you for journeying to New Orleans in a web of deceit and confusion with me. Sharing a place that has such connection for me was a pure joy. South Louisiana offers such a laid-back attitude that I often miss “home.” I hope you’ll enjoy sampling a taste of the flavor of Louisiana. Years ago I watched the movie The Game with Michael Douglas and Sean Penn and was enthralled. There’s just something grabbing about messing with a person’s mind and life by using their own feelings and instincts against them. When this story of Stratagem first began forming, I wanted to use all that intrigue to mess up the game master’s life. The end result is quite the ride! As the characters came alive to me, I found the theme of forgiveness and acceptance coming out in the story. Some of the emotions within this story are very personal to me, and I’m honored I was able to share them with you. It is my wish that you may be touched by Grayson’s faith journey as well. Until next time. . . -Robin

Review
"Shelter of the Most High" by Connilyn Cossette is a wonderful story of faith and love.  It is the second book of the series and I recommend reading the first but if you haven't you can still enjoy the book.

I was kept turning the pages and was so disappointed when it ended because I wanted to keep reading about these characters. I believe there will be another book to the series.

Both of these books were written so well that I could imagine that I was watching the scenes unfold as I was reading them.  I felt the characters emotions as I was reading.

I think this series would make great movies.

I was given a complimentary copy by the author and Celebrate Lit. My opinions are my own.

Guest Post from Connilyn

Shelter of the Most High, the second book in my Cities of Refuge Series, will be the first I’ve written to have been influenced by my trip to Israel last year. When I started writing Biblical fiction almost nine years ago, I was limited to exploring the Land of Promise via Google Earth, books, and through a plethora of photos on the good ol’ world wide web, but of course nothing can compare to actually experiencing the atmosphere and scenery for yourself. So although I’d already written Shelter of the Most High by the time I hopped on a plane to join fellow author Cliff Graham’s GoodBattle Tour, once I returned my editing was filtered through the sights and sounds I’d witnessed for myself. It had been a life-long dream to go to Israel and it did not disappoint, in fact it just went way too fast! One of my greatest fears was that I would see the places I’d written about in my books and realize I totally messed up my descriptions, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that for the most part I’d been fairly accurate (although I did tweak a few things here and there). Standing on the western shore of the Sea of Galilee I was able to envision Eitan, our hero in Shelter of the Most High, sitting on one of the black boulders there, defeated and weary as he searched for his love. I was able to look toward the snowy peaks of Mount Hermon in the north and over the fertile Hula Valley just below the ancient ruins of Kedesh, the city of refuge, and consider how Sofea must have felt as she experienced the landscape of her new home for the first time, both the fear and the awe. One of my favorite sites was Tel Dan and although it does not feature in Shelter of the Most High it’s lush greenness and dense forest gave me a better sense of what Israel must have been in the past before deforestation, war, and shifts in climate have done to the fertile land God himself called a land of milk and honey. Since I was so affected by Tel Dan (or Laish in ancient times) that city will be one of the settings in my upcoming third installment of the Cities of Refuge Series, Until the Mountains Fall. Being a super visual person who is highly sensitive to sensory input, I took great pleasure in absorbing with all my senses as we walked paths, climbed mountains (yes, mountains), slogged through a long, cold, and wet tunnel deep beneath Jerusalem, hiked up to the secret oasis of Ein Gedi where David hid from Saul, and rocked along on a boat over the glassy surface of the Galilee. I felt like a sponge just soaking up every little detail and every grand vista. Smelling the salty breeze off the Mediterranean and hearing the waves crash against the sandy beach in Tel Aviv and Caesarea Phillipi made me imagine our heroine Sofea looking over that enormous, blue expanse and wondering what sort of god had control of such a powerful thing. Feeling the timeworn cobblestones beneath my feet gave me a sense of what it must have been like for Eitan and Sofea to walk through the streets of Kedesh, their own sandals scuffing against the rough-hewn stone as they went about their daily activities. Running my fingers along the pitted surfaces of ancient buildings and tracing the chisel marks from craftsmen of the Bronze Age wrapped me in a whirl of imagination about who the people were that hefted those same rocks into place and the ingenuity it took to create structures that have lasted so long. Tasting the unique spices and flavors of the Middle East gave me a sense of the passion Moryiah (our hero’s mother) has for creating delicious new dishes to feed her growing family and the guests at her inn. Although I write fiction, my stories are woven into Biblical accounts so going to Israel was a perfect reminder for me that the people that lived between the pages of Genesis to Revelations were real. They breathed, they cried, they loved, they mourned, they suffered, and they celebrated with their families. I am so grateful to have gleaned some great new insight into the Land and its resilient, vibrant people and hope that through Shelter of the Most High readers get a small sense of the beauty and wonder I experienced there. I cannot wait to go back!

"Secrets" by Beckie Lindsey Book Tour and Giveaway

About the Book

Book: Secrets
Author: Beckie Lindsey
Genre: Young Adult
Release Date: February, 2018

Every girl has a secret she hopes the light will never find–but the demons already have.
Four girls. Four sets of secrets. Four searching for answers.
Mackenzie is the shy, awkward new girl at school, depressed and desperate for a real friend. When she stumbles upon the deepest secret of a sarcastic, angry-at-the-world track star, Krystal, they become instant enemies-especially about the flirtatious baseball player, Bryce.
Tammi, a gloomy singer/musician who couldn’t care less about what others think of her, meets Sadie, a dancer and a people-pleaser with a cotton candy disposition. They have nothing in common until their lives begin to collide in more ways than one.
As the girls’ worlds begin to converge, their secrets rather than their similarities draw them together. Meanwhile, all that’s kept hidden has left them vulnerable to a battle in an invisible realm where demonic creatures fight to keep the girls chained to their pasts while angels of light work to free them.
Can good ever come from evil? Can beauty ever arise from ashes?

My Review:
First all I, want to say the author does give a warning that this book might cause past issues or present ones to cause a reader more sorrow and to not to continue reading if they do.  The warning is because this book deals with the subjects of sexual abuse, incest, bulimia, alcoholism, divorce, adultery, low self-esteem, battling negative thoughts, anger to the point of hate, dealing with evil forces and blaming God, and depression and anxiety.  I have to be honest and say after reading this warning, I was tempted to put the book down and not even start reading it  because I  have dealt with some of these issues and still am dealing with them.  But, I read the book and finished it and have to say I am glad I did.  This book gave me new hope, yes, I know and believe that God is with us and knows what is best, but the hope came from seeing that God has angels that fights for us. I have always believe in angels but this story, even though it is fiction brought verses like Daniel 10:13 and Jude 1:9 and Hebrews 1:14( They battle demons, carry messages, bring answers to prayers, are instruments of God's judgement and more) more into everyday life.

"Secrets" by Beckie Lindsey is fiction but it is a story that is true in every high school in the United States.  This is the first book in the series and I have already downloaded book two.

I don't think I have a favorite character of the four main characters because I felt the heartaches and sorrows from each one of them.  And with each one of them I could identify at least one thing with them, no I was never a track star or a singer or a dancer but other similar like Tammy and her grandparents and Sadie, her name was my grandmother's name, Mackenzie like me is shy and finds it hard to make new friends and like Krystal my parents were divorced.

This is a story that isn't a feel good story but it is a story that more young adults and other adults  need to read and become more aware that Satan and his demons are out to destroy us by keeping us trapped in our pasts and fears.  The story is a clean read and not too graphic.

I was given a complimentary copy by the author and Celebrate Lit. These opinions are my own.

Guest Post from Beckie

Why I write YA and the BFA series By Beckie Lindsey I believe a teenager still exists inside each of us. We hear a familiar tune from our “glory days” and are instantly tapping our toes. Mentally, we’re back in high school —poofy bangs, scrunchie, neon off-the-shoulder sweatshirt — and all. Oh, wait. That’s me back in the ‘80s! Ah, yes. There is something wonderfully awful about those coming-of-age years. From the first kiss to the first breakup, there are memories we cherish and some we don’t care to ever revisit. Being a teen can be exciting, confusing, painful, joyous, or even all of those things at once! No matter how different your teenage experience was from mine, one thing is true for us all: these years have an enormous impact on who we become as adults. We can all sympathize with the plight of puberty and the longing for independence and acceptance. Yeah, there’s still a teenager in all of us! These are the reasons I write YA. My hope is to use the power of storytelling to move past barriers and open hearts to accept how much God loves and desires a personal relationship with us. At every age, we all need the grace and love of Jesus. In the Beauties from Ashes (BFA) series, I write about relatable characters with difficult issues and traumatic pasts to enlighten readers about the unseen spiritual battle referred to in Scripture. Each character has a secret that has left them vulnerable to the battle in an invisible realm where demonic creatures fight to keep them chained to their pasts and angels of light work to free them. The characters and their issues are complex, just like real life. In fact, some of the topics are often considered too taboo to talk about openly. But what is left in the dark, festers and grows. It is only in the light that we can be free. In the BFA series, readers experience the character’s quest for truth, love, grace, and freedom while hopefully finding the same for themselves.

"Love Again, Live Again " by Joan Hunter Book Tour and GiveAway

About the Book

Book: Love Again, Live Again
Author: Joan Hunter
Genre: Non-Fiction; Christian Living, relationships
Release Date: November 6, 2018

Everyone gets their feelings hurt in life. As these wounds fester and compound throughout life, they become scars that affect our current relationships. Anyone suffering from a wounded heart feels a sense of separation from people, but the separation it creates from our heavenly Father is far worse for our mind, body and soul. “Broken Heart Syndrome” is a recognized medical condition. Tests show that the pain caused by relational stress or trauma releases stress hormones to circulate through the body. This causes the inner layers of the heart to shred, damaging the cardiac muscle and its capacity to pump blood throughout the body. The chest pain this can cause resembles a serious heart attack. Stents or angioplasty can treat blocked vessels, but modern medicine still has no quick fix for a broken heart. Joan Hunter reveals how to heal your heart from past hurts. To do this, you must be set free from the trauma of past relationships that prevent you from giving of yourself to those most important to you today. In doing so, you will also restore your most important relationship—the one with your heavenly Father.

My Review:
"Love Again, Live Again" by Joan Hunter is a book that is supposed to help heal a broken heart and help a reader to love and live again. I agreed with some of the points she made, like we need to tear down our walls in order to love and be loved and we need to be close to Our Heavenly Father. I also agreed that we need to forgive others. I thought the book mostly talked about sexual purity and breaking ties with past sexual partners, whether you were married or not. At one point, the author advised people they could break the covenant of marriage that God had ordained by renouncing it. The book is a short book and can be read in one setting. The author does include prayers to say but this book isn't one that I would recommend to someone that really needs help in this area. I would recommend parts of the book as a reinforcement on forgiving and tear down the walls around our heart.

I really wanted to like this book because we have all been hurt in some form, that is just life. I thought the book was going to be about moving on but once again I felt the book was more about having many sexual partners and breaking the connections with them. I agree that each relationship you have causes you to lose another piece of your heart. But, I feel like the title and the description for the book isn't in sync with the title.

I was given a complimentary copy by the author and Celebrate Lit. These opinions are myown.

Guest Post from Joan

Everyone has had their feelings hurt by parents, siblings, spouse, children, teachers, friends, or coworkers. Whether you realize it or not, those wounds affect your current relationships. Anyone suffering with a wounded or broken heart feels a sense of separation. Often, you feel that the separation from “man” is the problem. But in reality, separation from your heavenly Father is what causes the worst pain in your mind, body, and soul. After ministering and teaching about a “Broken Heart Syndrome” for several years, I discovered that there was an official medical diagnosis by that name. Tests have shown that the inner layers of the heart actually shred, which damages the cardiac muscle and its capacity to pump blood throughout the body. Any interruption of the electrical system imbedded in the muscle hinders the heart rhythm and can lead to death or permanent damage. Usually caused by extreme stress or trauma, which precipitates an excess of stress hormones to circulate throughout the body, the resulting chest pain can resemble a serious heart attack. The diagnosis is made by ruling out a heart attack, which is caused by blocked or collapsed cardiac blood vessels. While stents or angioplasty can treat blocked vessels, there is no quick fix for a broken heart. Broken Heart Syndrome does not block blood vessels and it can sometimes heal within a month or so. It can be caused by an extreme stressful/traumatic situation such as the death of a loved one, divorce, severe sudden illness, injury, or extreme shock. This book reveals how to heal your heart from those hurts. To do this, you must be set free from old relationships that prevent you from giving of yourself to those most important to you today. You will also see how these principles affect your most important relationship—your relationship with your heavenly Father.
