"Promises of Gold" by Serena Clarke

When Emmalene’s father brags that she can spin straw into gold, word soon reaches the king and she is taken to him to prove she has this ability. Knowing magic is outlawed in the kingdom, she has kept her own magical ability a secret but spinning straw into gold was impossible for her to do. Now she must prove her father’s tale to be true or risk the wrath of the king.

The only person who can save her is the legendary Rumpelstilkin. When he doesn’t appear, but sends one of his followers, she is grateful for his assistance but soon finds that she is falling for the charming man. When the king begins to show interest in Emmalene, will she choose to follow her heart or sacrifice her happiness to save the lives of those she loves?https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0979WTDDT/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_hsch_vapi_taft_p1_i0

"Promises of Gold" by Serena Clarke is a retake on the fairytale of Rumpelstilkin. I was kept reading because I just had to seen how it ended. I really did like it.  This is a love story with heroes and evil villains. I think the ending will surprise most readers. It did me but it was a sweet surprise. I think I would like to read more retakes of the fairytales if Serena Clarke decides to write any. This story is different from the original version but it still covers the gold from straw, guessing the real name of the hero and etc.

I recommend this book to readers who likes fairy tales with a twist.

I received a complimentary copy and these opinions are my own.
