This book was a long read but it was also an inspiring read. It deals with drug addiction (opium) and murder and fraudulent money shams. The plan of salvation is written into the story as part of the plot. The characters receive forgiveness and give forgiveness in this book. There are quotes that are shared as part of the storyline that are things that would be good for us readers to remember when we are struggling with things in our life.  This is the 5th book in this series. I think a reader would enjoy this book even if they didn't read the other 4 but i say it is better to read them all in order to get the background of all the characters mention, but I personally have to read entire series, just a personal trait of mine.  In this book the main characters , 

Opal, Lucy and Preston all grow in strength and learn to lean on and follow God.

Kathleen Denly lives in sunny California with her loving husband, four young children, two dogs, and ten cats. As a member of the adoption and foster community, children in need are a cause dear to her heart and she finds they make frequent appearances in her stories.
