Hey Debbie, thanks so much for letting me stop by!

What most draws you to mail-order bride stories?
I think it has to do with the bravery factor. And I’m sure I romance the idea that all the couples found true love. Of course, that didn’t always happen in real life. But the bravery part was for sure real. I don’t know if I could have left everything familiar and trusted that whoever waited for me on the other end would treat me fair or be all I hoped. But as for my heroine, Sophie. She needed to have a fresh start, and she thought marrying a preacher, even sight unseen, was the best possible route for her. And I’m so glad she did. 😉

When did you start writing?
I tried to narrow it down the other day, and I think it was 2012. But what’s more interesting is I wasn’t reading fiction until my mid-twenties. (I know. Trust me. I missed so much!) But I finally figured out what everyone else already knew: That reading was awesome. After a few years of reading nonstop, I finished a story that at the end made fun of God. I didn’t like it. So, the next morning I woke up and thought I’d just write a book like the kind I wanted to read. And six years later, I’m still writing. (And, reading of course.)

Do you listen to music while you write?
The short answer is: Sometimes. I actually prefer silence. 😊 However, I don’t often get that in my house. So, if things are noisy, aka if anyone is home, then I like to listen to either classical music or the Piano Guys or really most anything that doesn’t have lyrics. Otherwise, I’d do more singing than actual writing.

What was the most fun to write about in your story, Perfect for the Preacher?
I loved writing two of my side-characters. I’m sure uou can probably guess who they are after reading the story. But I also really enjoyed writing the entire congregation of Hilltop Chapel. Bringing all their moods, business meetings, quilting circles to life was a challenge and entertaining all at the same time.

Do your main characters have any of your character traits?
My stories are usually always fiction based, but there are a few real-life things sprinkled throughout. I think the hero and heroine would unfortunately share some of my downfalls more than anything. I like to make people happy. And sometimes in life, that just can’t happen.

When you’re not doing the author thing what are you doing?
In my spare time, my current hobby is reading. 😊 But I’m a mother and wife, so that keeps me busy on its own. I also babysit for a few munchkins a few days a week while my own kiddos are at school. But I do love vacations, especially ones that include the beach.

My Review: 

"If He Only Knew " is a novel set in the late 1960s. The book deals with family relationships, loyalty, friendship, love, and loss. The main topic is somewhat controversial in nature, but we won’t mention what it is lest we spoil the story for readers. (This is from the guest from my blog post so I encourage you to read the guest post,)

"If He Only Knew" by Michelynn Christy, Brandi Gabrie is a great story and a reminder that God forgives us even when we can't forgive ourselves. I really liked this story and if you read this story you will need tissues because the book is about real life issues. 

This book touched me in a real personal way, no I don't have the same issue as Donna, but I struggle with feelings of being good enough and I too am afraid that if people knew the real me, they wouldn't like me but I know that like me but realistically...that isn't true because I am an open book. But this story helps readers understand that God loves us regardless of what we do or don't do if we just let Him and believe Him.

This book is about betrayal and lost and trust and forgiveness.  

I encourage everyone to read this book, yes it is a Christian book and one of the characters is a preacher but the book is not preachy at all, I believe all readers could gain some insight from this novel.

Definitely a five star novel.

Author Michelynn Christy resides in the Midwest and enjoys creating romantic stories that point to Jesus. Her faith in God shines through the pages of her writing. My Review:                                                              "Phoebe’s Light" by Suzanne Woods Fisher is a book about Phoebe Starbuck. Her story is one of sorrow and betrayal and then healing. It is also the first story in the "Nantucket Legacy" series.  

I thought the book was slow at first but the more I read the more I wanted to keep reading, and I am glad I did. Suzanne Woods Fisher has written another 5 star novel.  

I thought it was interesting that the book shared parts from the journal of Phoebe's great grandmother. 

This book shows how some people aren't really as they seem. There are a couple of characters that really seemed to be likeable characters, but are they. This story also showed that sometimes first impressions are right. My favorite part of the book is where true loves win.

"Phoebe's Light" is full of details about whaling and ships and seasickness but these details are not boring at all, they enhanced the story.

This book is full of twists and turns that surprised this reader. 

I recommend this book to anyone that likes fictional history with romance mixed in.

I am eagerly awaiting for book 2.

A Stroll down Petticoat Row Thirty years ago, I talked my sister into going on a trip to Nantucket Island. It’s one of those places that had always intrigued me. As a girl in the 1930s, my mother’s family vacationed in Nantucket; she even has a lightship basket to show for it. I expected the island to be interesting and beautiful, and it certainly did not disappoint. But something else happened as I walked down Centre Street one morning. This island captured my imagination in a way that’s hard to put into words. At the risk of sounding a tiny bit sun touched, I could practically see 19^th century people on the roads, hear the “thee’s and thou’s” in their speech, even smell the strong scents of a bygone century—the musky perfume of rendered whale oil, the burning wood of the blacksmith, all mingled with the bracing sea air. Centre Street has a local nickname: Petticoat Row. It comes from the 1800s, when men were at sea for long periods and women stepped into their shoes to keep businesses going. Nantucket women gained a reputation for being strong and capable. Their competence was encouraged by the Society of Friends (Quakers), the island’s dominant religion, which believed in the equality of men and women in all aspects of life. That hasn’t changed. Today, half of all Nantucket businesses are run by women. Petticoat Row stuck in my mind, and eventually became the hook to contract a series of historical fiction with Revell Books. The ‘Nantucket Legacy’ series covers the rise and fall of Nantucket’s whaling period, when it became the wealthiest port in the world. First up is Phoebe’s Light, releasing in February 2018, a novel about a spirited young woman who seeks her fortune only to find out she already had it. After reading about Phoebe, I hope you’ll consider planning a trip to Nantucket (though try to go off-season. The population swells five times in the summer!). When you go, include a stop at the Petticoat Row Bakery (35 Centre Street)—the very location where Phoebe grew up, albeit a few centuries ago. Don’t leave the island without trying the Morning Glory Muffins, an island favorite. So worth the trip! Nantucket’s Famous Morning Glory Muffins Ingredients: 1 ¼ cup sugar 2 ¼ cup flour 1 tablespoon cinnamon 2 tsp baking soda ½ tsp salt ½ cup shredded coconut ½ cup raisins 2 cup grated carrots (4 large) 1 apple, shredded 8 oz. crushed pineapple, drained ½ cup pecans or walnuts 3 eggs 1 cup vegetable oil 1 tsp vanilla Instructions: Sift together sugar, flour, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt into a large bowl. Add the fruit, carrots and nuts and stir to combine. In a separate bowl, whisk eggs with oil and vanilla. Combine with dry ingredients and blend well. Spoon batter into cupcake tins lined with muffin papers. Fill each cup to the brim. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 35-40 minutes. These muffins needs 24 hours to ripen their full flavor. My Review:

"What Dreams May Come" by Alana Terry is the first book in the "A Sweet Dreams Christian Romance"series.

What I liked about the book is that it's fiction but based on the actor's real life love story and that this novel is definitely clean and wholesome. "What Dreams May Come" by Alana Terry is a perfect example of a Christian romance with no swearing and no explicit (or even implicit) bedroom scenes.

This book is a real example that God's plans are higher and are meant for our best.

I recommend reading "What Dreams May Come" by Alana Terry to everyone, even mature teens and preteens that are wanting and desiring a relationship. I would recommend to teens because even alot of Christian fiction for teens today have a hint of improper behavior described in the books. I also recommend having a few tissues handy because this book might cause a few tears. The book has a happy ending and no this isn't a spoiler alert, read the book info, but the fiction part isn't all happy.

I am definitely looking forward to reading the other books in this series.

My Review: 

"A Sweetwater River Romance" by Misty M. Beller is the third book in the (Wyoming Mountain Tales) series. When a book is part of a series I have to read all in the order they were written and so I read the first two and I have to say that this series left me wanting to read more of these characters. The series is about two brothers and a sister and even though the series connect together I am going to say that each one can be read as a stand alone and still be enjoyed.

"A Sweetwater River Romance" by Misty M. Beller is a story of healing and trust. Tori and her cousin leave their quiet Pennsylvania town to go to the mountains to get away from a dangerous situation and hopes that Ezra can save them.  

I couldn't put these books down  until I had read them in their entirety because of all the events that happened in the stories.  The scenes were written so well that I could see the snow piles in my mind as I read the book as well as I could feel the pain and the sorrow of each of these characters in each of the three books.

I think "A Sweetwater River Romance" is my favorite of the three because it brings all the characters together at the end of the novel.  Another reason is because the herione is named Tori which is one of my granddaughter's name and we all like things that we can relate to when we read.

My Review: 

"A Passionate Hope" by Jill Eileen Smith is the fourth book in the "Daughters of the Promised Land" series and is Hannah's story. 

I knew how Hannah prayed and longed for a son but never really knew the depths of her longing until reading "A Passionate Hope" by Jill Eileen Smith. As with her other novels, Jill Eileen Smith really brings Hannah and the other Biblical characters to life. She makes her  readers realize that these people are more than just characters but are real people with issues and feelings like us.

When I hear another sermon on Hannah and Samuel, I will remember all the heartache and believing that Hannah went through to give her husband a son.

I knew that in Biblical times, if women were barren it was a really Bad thing, but Jill Eileen Smith really lets us see how bad it really was.  She writes in a way that the reader feels that they are there with the characters and watching the action unfold. 

I felt Hannah's pain and sorrow as she learned of each new child that was born to her husband Elkanah by his second wife Peninnah.   

"A Passionate Hope" by Jill Eileen Smith brings out more of the evil done by Eli's two sons and at times I could feel the tears want to start at the cruel acts by these two sons, as well as Hannah's own family toward her because of her being unable to bear children.

"A Passionate Hope" is a story of hope and healing. I recommend this book to everyone that knows the story of Hannah and how she is praying so earnestly for a child that Eli thinks she is drunk.

Jill Eileen has written another book that lets us see things as they were, a little clearer. 

My favorite quotes from the book are as follows on page 351 "We can all feel as though our lives have become a burden to others, especially when they seem to have no purpose. When I was barren, I felt that way nearly every day."  Then on page 356 "None of us deserve blessing, but I am so glad God gives it anyway."   Then on page 357 "God does amazing things when we trust Him."
