"Chased" by M. Liz Boyle Book Tour and GiveAway

Chased

About the Book

Book:  Chased

Author: M. Liz Boyle

Genre: Christian Y.A.

Release date: June 1, 2020

Ebook Chased Cover JPGIt’s been a year since Marlee, her sisters, and the Miles boys survived an avalanche. Sure, it was a little embarrassing for them when all the neighbors saw them on the news, but they love being outdoors, and what are the odds that another tragedy would strike this adventurous group? Has anyone calculated the statistics of being hit with two natural disasters? It has to be low, so of course the two families planned to backpack again this summer.

When the teens first meet Thad, a dehydrated hiker on the trail, they give him water and food and help him recover. He seems harmless until he tells them to hike a few extra miles at sunset. Then Lydie finds a hand-drawn map that Thad dropped, and they discover why he is so eager to get away from the Stanley girls and Miles boys. So eager that he starts chasing them.

Now they have to climb up unforgiving ridges, sneak through the night, and – is that thunder and lightning? To make matters worse, Marlee has a nagging worry that her older sister Ellie is preparing to move away from home.

What is God’s plan? How will they get away from Thad before it’s too late?

"Chased" by  M. Liz Boyle is book 2 in the series, but it can be read as a standalone. This book takes place a year after the first book and it does mention the events that happens several times.

In this book, the same five teens find themselves in danger from a man who is chasing them.

The action is non stopped from page to page.  If you like nature stories then you will enjoy these books.

This is a book that shows teens doing good even when it causes harm to them.

I received a contemporary copy from the author and Celebrate Lit and these are my own opinions.

About the Author

Liz looking to sideLiz is the author of the Off the Itinerary series, the wife of a professional tree climber and the homeschooling mom of three energetic and laundry-producing children. She received her Associate’s of Arts at the University of Sioux Falls, where she received the LAR Writing Award for her essay entitled, “My Real Life Mufasa.” Liz once spent a summer in Colorado teaching rock climbing, which she believes was a fantastic way to make money and memories. She resides with her family in Wisconsin, where they enjoy hiking and rock climbing. Liz and her husband have also backpacked in Colorado and the Grand Canyon, which have provided inspiration for her writing. She likes making adventurous stories to encourage others to find adventures and expand their comfort zones (though admittedly, she still needs lots of practice expanding her own comfort zone).

More from Liz

Five years ago my husband Dustin and I took a dream-come-true trip to the Grand Canyon. On the first day we hiked to the bottom of the Cathedral Staircase. To picture the Cathedral Staircase, think of the longest set of stone stairs in the world, double it, and put it in a (scenic) pizza oven. Oh, and strap a 50-pound bag to your back. It was there in the sun that we met a young couple who was sorely unprepared for the elements of the Canyon. The young lady had signs of heat exhaustion, and the guy didn’t have a clue what to do. Thankfully our group was able to help them and call backcountry rangers to get the couple to safety. The situation was eye-opening on many levels. After the shock of witnessing such a close call settled down, my creative side saw the experience as inspiration for Avalanche’s sequel. Except in my book Chased, I added a plot twist. When the dehydrated hiker recovers, he becomes a threat to the very people who saved his life. I had a blast writing Chased, and I hope you enjoy the adventure, too!

"The Wonderful Way You Are" by Sarah E. Brooks Book Tour and GiveAway

About the Book

Book:  The Wonderful Way You Are

Author: Sarah E. Brooks

Genre: Children’s Non-fiction Picture Book (age 3-7)

Release date: October 10, 2020

Every child deserves to feel fully loved, fully seen, and fully known.

We all long to feel accepted and loved. Our special needs children are no different. Growing up with a disability or chronic medical condition can create a unique set of challenges and may leave a child asking questions like:

“Why am I the way I am?”

“Is there anyone else out there like me?”

“Where do I belong?”

“Is it OK if I don’t look, think, or move like those around me?”

Based on real special needs children, the book’s vivid illustrations and rhyming text help children, with a variety of medical conditions, see their story reflected on the page, because every child deserves to see their story told.

Unlike other books that focus on a single condition, this book highlights a variety of children with different complex needs.

Some of the conditions included:

Cerebral Palsy

Cystic Fibrosis

Gorlin Syndrome

Vitiligo

G-Tubes

Wheelchairs and Mobility Aids

Prosthetic Limbs

Limb Difference

Autism/Neurodiversity

Down Syndrome

When special needs children know they are wonderful, not in spite of their differences, but because of them, they are equipped to not just survive, but thrive.

"The Wonderful Way You Are" by Sarah E. Brooks is a wonderful small and colorful book that lets children know that they are special and unique in their differences. This is a great book to have whether you have a handicapped child or not. this could be a teaching tool to help children learn that we are all different but we all want the same things such as love, respect and acceptance.

I received a contemporary copy by the author and Celebrate Lit and these opinions are my own.

About the Author

Sarah Elizabeth Brooks is a special needs mom to a warrior princess and three fantastic sons. When she’s not writing or recording instrumental piano albums, you can find her dodging Mt. Laundry to sneak away with a cup of hot tea, some dark chocolate, and a good book.

More from Sarah

I was always that awkward kid at recess who opted to sit on a bench with a book. Not because I was antisocial, but because I loved being able to experience new worlds and adventures through the pages of a book. As I grew, that love of reading stayed with me, and it’s a pastime that I hope to pass on to my own children. While, I always knew that I wanted to write a book one day, a rhyming picture book about special needs kids was not on my radar…that is until my youngest daughter was born. At five-months-old, she faced her first brain surgery, with a second brain surgery following two months later. When we received her diagnosis of Gorlin Syndrome, I went into mama research mode. I wanted to do everything I could to help keep her safe and prepare her for the future. As my daughter prepared to enter a preschool for children with developmental disabilities, I wondered how others would treat her. The Wonderful Way You Are is a love letter from a parent (or grandparent) to the child they love. It acknowledges some of the unique challenges that can come with being different from those around you, while reinforcing the truth that we all have a unique gift to share with the world. My hope and prayer is that this book will be a blessing to families with children of all abilities, that it will open up conversations about difference, and encourage and equip children to know that they are wonderful, exactly the way they are.   Thanks for taking the time to join me on this journey! -Sarah

Tired of fast-paced city life, Lee is considering a permanent move to the mountains. His run-in with Megan has him believing he’s in Laurel Crest for more than a partnership in an animal hospital.

After a case of mistaken identity is cleared up, Megan and Lee strike up a friendship. Lee is everything Megan ever wanted—smart, loyal and dedicated to his faith. But Megan has experienced deep betrayal twice, and she’s reluctant to give romance another try.

Can Megan come to terms with the secret that haunts her, get past her distrust of men, and accept the love Lee offers or will her heart be broken again?

This is such a fun, easy read!  This is a perfect read for an afternoon when a reader needs a break or for a busy mom  to read while the babies are sleeping.  There are laugh out scenes and intense moments when the Gospel is shared.

I was given a contemporary copy by the author and Celebrate and these opinions are my own.

 About the Author

Lesa Henderson has been an avid reader since she first learned how to read and loves getting lost in the world the author creates. She’s been writing since the age of 10 and has since been published in many national magazines and is also a screenwriter. She lives in Florida with her husband Ken, their three children and a Schnauzer named Jackson.

More from Lesa

In Someone To Trust Megan McCormick (the heroine of the story) though very disciplined,  loves icing-filled, chocolate chip cookies.  I love the combination myself.  Especially butter-cream icing.   I’ll do an extra mile of running to have one.

She’s also a bit of a klutz and I drew some of her mishaps from my own unfortunate past episodes.  I’m a bit more graceful now but  definitely share some embarrassing incidents with Megan.   I’m also a screenwriter, so I did my best to relay Megan’s clumsiness, in a way hopefully that reader could easily see in their mind.

I wanted to tell a story of someone who was very broken by her father’s betrayal of her mother when she was a little girl.  Many of us have suffered father wounds that greatly impact us, even down the road in our lives.

As the story began forming  in my mind, I wondered what would happen if Megan became the very thing she despised her father for?  How would that impact her life?  Naturally, it would compound her distrust of men, as well as bring on self-loathing.

Of course this brought up the issue of forgiveness.  Not only the ability to forgive those who have hurt us but also the grace to forgive ourselves.

This is something Megan needs to learn.  Although, she is beautiful and caring,  her heart is cloaked in bitterness and she’s running from her past.  And we all know, sometimes our past comes back to haunt us when we least expect it.

Book:  I Witnessed Miracles

Author: Maureen Chevalier-Seawell, M.D.

Genre: Christian non-fiction

Release date: April 30, 2020

MaureenChevalier-Seawell_IWitnesedMiracles_HRDo Miracles really happen?
Does God still heal the sick?Dr. Maureen Chevalier-Seawell says, Yes!In the hope and faith inspiring book,
I Witnessed MiraclesDr. Chevalier-Seawell recounts the dozens of miracles she witnessed in her thirty-three years of medical practice and in her personal life.Thomas had a stroke which did not resolve in two years. But then…
When he was hospitalized for a different problem, he was re-evaluated by stroke-rehab. Their evaluation was: no hope. His prayer group prayed for him every night for three weeks. Thomas regained everything the stroke had taken away.Jessie lost her vision for six months. But then…
She came to the office for surgical clearance for her ophthalmologist. After anointing with oil and receiving a brief prayer, she awakened the next morning with her sight restored to normal.Elizabeth had lupus for ten years. Her joint pain, Raynauds and fatigue were increasing. But then…
On the 700 Club on TV she heard, “There is somebody out there…and she has Lupus. God is healing her right now.”
And he did.Every chapter tells the individual uplifting story of each person’s devastating diagnosis when medicine failed them and then the miraculous recovery as God healed their body and revived their spirit.I Witnessed Miracles is a profound recollection of inspirational stories that will give you positive reinforcement, drawing you closer to God and refreshing your faith. A read you won’t forget.
This is a book filled with miracles that the author saw happen.  She is a retired doctor and does not claim she healed these people. She gives all credit to Jesus.  I am so sad that her husband wasn't healed from cancer.  This book gives believers more reasons to keep on believing that miracles still happen today!

“Faith was a single mother in her late twenties. Very pretty. Upbeat personality. She was well liked by most people. Faith was also a devout Christian. She shared her faith constantly like seeds in the wind. She worked in an office in the building where I leased space.

It was late in 2005 that Faith developed a physical problem in her mouth. Her dentist removed the right upper wisdom tooth, but the wound did not heal. She had been seeing the dentist for weeks. He would debride the wound and cover it. Then she would go back for more debriding. The painful, dime-sized wound refused to heal. After six weeks of conservative care, her dentist told her the hole would not close on its own. She would need surgery, so he made the referral.

This was the day she told me about the problem. She was visiting in our office just at closing. She pulled out a pocket flashlight and showed me her gum. What I saw was a lesion about the size of a dime and deep. I could see white uncovered bone, but the wound was clean. There was no dead or infected tissue. I didn’t know why with the care she was getting the wound had not healed.

In a purely social way, I told her that I hoped all would go well with her and proceeded to exit the building. It was already getting dark. The winter sun went down early. That day had been a particularly long one. I was tired. My coat was on my body, my purse on my shoulder, and my briefcase in my hand. I was done. I pushed open the heavy glass door and walked toward my car. Next stop, home. No sooner did I get outside the building than I heard the Spirit of the Lord speak to my heart: “Are you my servant or aren’t you?”

I was so tired. I didn’t want to go back into the building. I wanted to go home. I had a short discussion with myself, turned around, and went back to find Faith. Fortunately, she was right where I had left her. She had found someone else to talk to. I asked her if she would be offended if I said a brief prayer for her and applied the oil. “No, that would be wonderful,” she said.

I returned to my office, retrieved a drop of oil that had been blessed, and placed it on her face near the wound inside her mouth. I put my hand on her shoulder and prayed a very short but sincere prayer in the name of Jesus. I still had my coat on, so I shouldered my bag, picked up my briefcase, and left.

I was interrupted in my morning schedule by my office manager. She told me Faith had been healed. My whole office was excited. Faith was jumping up and down. The hole in her gum was gone. She was still carrying her flashlight, so I could see where it had been. There was nothing in her mouth but clean, well-healed skin. It couldn’t have healed like that overnight. Faith’s dentist didn’t believe it either, so she took time that day to show him. He, too, was amazed.

There is no medical explanation. I give the glory to the Lord Jesus, our Savior.”

Oh, clap your hands, all you peoples!

Shout to God with the voice of triumph!

"Autumn’s Harmony" by Donna Wyland Book Tour and GiveAway

About the Book

Book:  Autumn’s Harmony

Author: Donna Wyland

Genre: Contemporary women’s fiction

Release date: October 20, 2020

For every woman who has ever desired

to make sense of her past, find joy in

the present, and discover God’s purpose

for her future.

Anna Bentley needs a new life. Struggling in a long-term marriage with two children and carrying a secret that stole her joy many years ago, she begins to search for the key to happiness in marriage and in life. When peach martinis, lacy lingerie and Nicholas Sparks novels fail to quell her discontent and spice up her failing marriage, she finds what she was looking for in the most unlikely place.

Autumn’s Harmony is a poignant and witty tale about the healing power of forgiveness, reconciliation and new beginnings.

https://www.amazon.com/Autumns-Harmony-Donna-Wyland/dp/1732870551?dchild=1&keywords=autumn%27s+harmony&qid=1616297150&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUFGQkQxVTNVS1FGSDImZW5jcnlwdGVkSWQ9QTA1NzIwOTAzQUMzSk9MVTNXTzhVJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTAyNDczMzAyR01PQjFTOTFWWkVIJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfYXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ%3D%3D&linkCode=sl1&tag=celelit-20&linkId=167e889f335e26b973409d101645cf0f&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl

I recommend "Autumn’s Harmony" by Donna Wyland wholeheartedly.  It covers topics that most women struggles with, like believing that we are worth something. This novel is about Anna's search for happiness.  This novel deals with forgiveness.  This novel has some talk of sex but it between married couples and the details are not in graphic, so it is still a clean read!.  I was swept into Anne's life with each word that I read. This novel made me feel sad and hopeful and in the end I was actually smiling!

I was given a complimentary copy by the author and Celebrate Lit and these opinions are my own.
