"Texas Tears" by Caryl McAdoo is a wonderful book about characters from her other books. I believed that even if readers haven't read her other books featuring these characters, this book would still be an enjoyable read. It is a story of love at first sight and there is even rivalry between two friends who have been friends forever. This story shows things never stay the sam, but that sometimes it is for the better, if changes come.

The Bible says "We are to honor our parents but does it says it, our mother should get to choose who we married. That is what Hart has to decide. Will he choose Charity or Arlene or neither one.

I enjoyed reading about Arlene's novel in process. But the book ended with me wondering if it gets published. Maybe that question will get answered in a future book.

This book really has the reader wondering who ends up with whom , till the very end.

Once again, Carly McAdoo lets her readers know our God is a God who forgives and He does give the desires of the heart to those who delight in Him.

TEXAS TEARS includes the vote to enter the Union or remain a Republic in 1845. Though it ended in an overwhelming approval to become a state, believe you me, tears fell all over Texas and have been falling since for some.

As a semi-closet secessionist, it wouldn’t bother me if the Texas Legislature voted tomorrow to become the Second Republic of Texas! There are plenty of true radicals living today in the Lone Star State who work diligently daily toward that end!

Anyway, tears also fell in the new Texas community where the four families first met in GONE TO TEXAS—the O’Neals, Van Zandts, Worleys, and Harrells—have been settling in five years. One of their own, Thomas Baldwin (introduced in book two, TEXAS MY TEXAS) represented them in the Texas Congress, going to Washington on the Brazos to vote!

Not all the tears that fell in that growing community were over the vote, but rather a man who came riding in on a magnificent black stallion. Eberhart de Vecchi was tall, handsome, and a perfect Prince Charming who swept the two young coming-of-age women there right off their high-topped shoes!

Friends their whole lives, the older, Charity O’Neal, claimed him right off, but Arlene Van Zandt the younger—only by six months and three days—who’s always given in before isn’t ready to acquiesce so quickly in this instance, smitten as she is.

And so, thar’s trouble in them thar hills! To thicken the sludge, enters the hard-working Landry Humble, Monroe’s (also introduced in book two TEXAS MY TEXAS) nephew. This young man, able to pick more than twice his weight in cotton in a day, knows immediately which lovely he wants.

My, my, my . . . the tears do fall in Texas, and not everyone can have a happy ending. Or can they?

" Landmark" by Pamela Poole is there 4th book in this series. I think it would be ok to read this book first because it is how the Painter family got their start. I admit I like the other three books better, but I am glad that the author wrote this book because after reading it, I understand the characters from the first three books better and why they did some of the things they did in the other three books. This book is not about Carolina or the other characters that was in the other three books but this is a story about how there parents meet.  It is a good read but it lacks the danger elements that the other books has. Still a 4 star read.

I recommend reading this entire series, you won't be disappointed. It is a saga that truly shows what faith can do. It is clean loves and shows real love, trust and forgiveness.

"Haven of Rest"  by Faith Blum is book 4 in the "Tales of the East" series.  It can be read as a standalone. This is a story of how Adah, King David's daughter is neglected by him.  She comes up with a plan to make him noticed them but it doesn't work out. Why, you might be asking, but, you know I can't tell. I hope you read this book so you can find out for yourself.

This is a short story that fast readers could probably finish while waiting in a dr's office or a while reading in a car. I throughly enjoyed this story and plan on reading the other books in the series. I was pulled into the story from the first word to the last one.  Once, I finished the book, I wanted to read more.

This is a story of how disappointments and fear lead Adah to turn to her heavenly Father.

I recommend this to all readers who want to read something short based on the way it could of happened to Biblical characters.

The Haven of Rest was inspired by a friend. I wanted another fairy tale to retelling for my series, but had run out of ideas and she mentioned the 12 Dancing Princesses and how the 12 girls could be 12 daughters of King David. It took a little while, but the idea soon grew into this story.
I do take liberties throughout the story. It is a Biblical Fiction story, and I tried hard to keep to those roots and keep it accurate throughout, including for the betrothals and weddings. However, a few liberties I took were:

• Giving King David more daughters than are mentioned. I did have Tamar be one of the daughters.
• Creating a backstory for Amnon’s obsession with Tamar.
• Showing that King David was a flawed man who was not a good father. Although this isn’t stated outright in the Bible, it is definitely implied by the rebellion three of his sons showed and his lax discipline of Amnon after his rape of Tamar.
• The other liberty I took is a spoiler for the end of the book, so you will have to read the book to find out what that was. I do explain my reasoning of that one in the Historical Note at the end of the book.

I really enjoyed writing this story and hope you enjoy reading it!

 "Letters from Jesus "by Chris Palmer is a fantastic book that every Christian should read and have in their home library.

It has a prayer for the week along with an activity for the week and additional Scriptures to read for the week. The activities are easy to do and some of them are fun such as this one. Create a calendar and put a red x 0n each day you are victorious over temptation.

Each chapter has the verse in English and then it is written in Greek. These 8 chapters are 3-5 pages long and cover the seven churches of Revelation.

I admit it I read the book and even though the author explains the Greek words, I am not a scholar, but the book itself does show me areas that we as individually Christians as well as the entire church need to change to be more Christlike.  There were a few times the Greek word  made the meaning of the Biblical verse so much stronger. The word hate is miseo in Greek for example and means a greater dislike than our use of the word hate.  We need to heed the warnings and follow the steps to repentance. This is another book that can and should be read more than once because we are imperfect people and forget to do the things we should and fall into sin too easily and we need to be reminder of God's love and the consequences of our sins and  what happens when we don't heed God's warnings. Don't let the fact that Greek is used in this book, it is very easy to read and understand.

I recommend this book to all Christians, whether they want to understand Greek or just want to be able to understand more clearly what Jesus is saying to us today.  I also think pastors ( I  say this because I know several pastors who use Greek words in their sermons sometimes) would find this book a useful tool to have in their personal library.

One interesting fact I learned while reading this book is that the verb "conquer" is nikao in Greek and comes from the Greek goddess who personified victory, Nike. It means crushing victory, . Nikes are shoes made for champions who stomp, smash, and smother their opponent in front of the crowd.   "God addresses, "the one who conquers" in His messages to each of the seven churches to emphasis that He fully excepts His people to keep on winning....and winning and winning."

This book is one that should be read over and over to really be ready for Christ's return.

I am going to close this review with the author's ending words " the message of Christ to the seven churches remains the same. It serves as anchor of truth that we can tie our lives to so we aren't swept away by tsunamis of subjectivity and sin. "

The Rev. Chris Palmer is the founder and pastor of Light of Today Church in Novi, Michigan, and founder of Chris Palmer Ministries. He is host of the popular podcast, Greek for the Week, seen on several Internet platforms.

Chris began in full-time ministry in 2006 and began to preach internationally in 2009, helping many congregations grow, flourish, and expand.
