My Review:
Live Pure and Free" by Dave Howe is a 9o day devotional for men who want to overcome their sexual sin and live pure and clean.  Each day starts with a Bible verse and then it is a short reading about the author's own struggle with porn and then a prayer for the men to pray. Then there are activities for the men to do. Some of the activities are for both married and single men and some are separate activities.

The author said "I wanted the reader to say to themselves, “this guy is real. He’s been through this and has overcome. If he can do it, I can do it.” " in the guest post on the blog tour.

I think this book should be in every counselor office and in every minster's personal library because porn is on the rise even with christian men.

I especially like the fact that the author wrote that when husbands watch porn it affects the wife and that it is being unfaithful to marriage vows.

The author tells men they need to have an accountability partner and they need help to overcome this addiction and not to give up if they start the process of recovering and fall, before we are all fall short sometimes, Romans 3:23.

Even through this book was written for men, I am glad I read it because it has helped me understand how porn can be addicting. I have heard this before and I wasn't sure I agreed because I thought it was a choice that was made and if you didn't want to want it or read it or whatever, you didn't, but the author helped me understand it a little better by writing that he tried to stop but wasn't able to till he surrounded it all to God.

You may be wondering why I read the book in the first place, well, I read it because I was given a complimentary copy by the author and Celebrate Lit and these opinions are my own.

Guest Post from Dave

This is not a fluffy book. I talk about the real things that guys in my purity group were going through in their struggles, as well as my own story. It reflects my 10 years of leading men through their journey to purity, which is only found in Christ and with God’s power.
Some of the devotions get gritty, and real. In Revelation 12:11 it says, “ And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.” I wanted the reader to say to themselves, “this guy is real. He’s been through this and has overcome. If he can do it, I can do it.”
I heard one writer say that you have to have that personal connection with the reader through your honesty. “You have to bleed all over the pages.” That’s what I did.
