When I first starting reading this book, I was thinking this book is not very good but once I got into the book I soon changed my mind. This book kept me reading. It was also a little sad for me because the book was about cancer research to cure kids with cancer. This book is also about foster care.

I recommend this book if you like medical suspense. I also recommend it if you like stories that feature children,( but with the warning that the children in this book are not children that are in a happy go lucky world but are sick and need to find a safe place.

This is also a romance that has a different approach then just boy meets girl and all is okay.

The medical descriptions weren't written in a hard to follow way but in fact was quite easily to follow.

I was wondering if CAR T-cell therapy was a real thing and I looked it up on the internet and I didn't read too much but it is a real thing which makes this book much better in my opinion. Children in a foster home is also a thing that touches my heart as my four grandsons are adopted.

I really like books that are based on real issues, it makes it easily to believe that the story could be real even through we know it is fiction.

I want a sequel so we can know if Bethany's makes it ok.

Each novel has a unique genesis story. The spark that launches it into a journey of 90,000 words. For Lethal Intent, that journey began with a friend’s journey of childhood leukemia with her oldest. From watching their family wind through years of treatment including cutting edge therapy trials. Then it developed with the Immortal Life of Henrietta Lack and the thought what would someone be willing to do if they believed they’d found the next strain of immortal cells. The lead characters made appearances in other books, but now would have their opportunity to step to center stage. The story morphed and changed, dictated by the vagaries of the law and changes.

Each story has a spark. For Caroline it was a brainstorming session with my writing buddies Rachel Hauck, Colleen Coble, and Denise Hunter. That was when her backstory developed, all the things that happened to her to form her into the adult she is on the pages. One who cares deeply about others but who is fundamentally scared, longing for a place she can relax and take a deep breath.

Each story has a spark. For Brandon, it was brainstorming with another writing friend Tricia Goyer that lead to a creative job for a hero that wasn’t the typical law enforcement. His role with the group foster home was set and the backstory filled in quickly. What would it be like to be separated from and lose a brother in the foster care system? Would that generate this need to keep sibling groups together? And then the law changes and the fabric of your professional identity and something so much deeper is threatened.

Each story has a spark. The pharmaceutical start-up where ethics collides with the desire to save children. The push to do whatever it takes overshadowing the guardrails of the law. If they expected silence, they hired the wrong woman. But does Caroline really have the strength to battle and does she need to?

Lethal Intent grew from each of these sparks and many more to develop into a story I can’t wait for you to read. In the process I learned immense amounts about CAR-T cell therapies and foster care law. "Mending the Net" by Dr. J. Doug Stringer is a book that describes and tells why people need to come together regardless of denominational preferences to show Jesus's love.This book is mostly stories about how the author and people he knows worked in this way.

I was given a contemporary ebook copy by the author and Celebrate Lit and I really like the statements that are colored in gray throughout the book.

I think this would be a great book for all Christians to read and apply to their lives. I think my favorite quote from the book is "God does not ask the same of every person, but He does ask each of us to do what we can.

This question from the book is one we all need to ask ourselves " What will the people of your city say as they point a finger at you? Will they say they wished they had listen to you....or will they ask why you never told them? "

About the Author

Dr. J. Doug Stringer is founder and president of Turning Point Ministries International and Somebody Cares America/International (SCA/SCI). Doug’s years of ministry have taken him to numerous communities and nations—from urban to foreign missions, from garbage dumps to the palaces and halls of government leaders.

As an Asian-American, Doug is considered a bridge-builder of reconciliation among various ethnic and religious groups. I am going to start this review with I hope there is a sequel. I loved "Our Town Atheist" by Victoria Buck. The ending was expected but it had a surprise twist. This was a fun read, except the part on the mountain road, I was on the edge of my chair thinking Oh no.

I enjoyed this book so much I went to her Amazon page and saw she has three books that is a series and will be reading them as soon as I caught up on all the other books I need to read!

I recommend this book to readers who likes Christian novels with a little violence but is a clean read!

Victoria Buck is a native Floridian running a small business with her husband, who teaches her everything she needs to know about both melodrama and comic relief. Wake the Dead is her debut novel. Killswitch is the follow-up to book one. Transfusion is the last book in the trilogy about the world’s first transhuman.

Now, on to other stories! Victoria is currently working on two present-day novels. No transhumans or insurrections. Of course, there has to be a bit of a weird twist!

Have you ever heard of a porkpie hat? Maurice is wearing one that terrible night when Adam sees him. The Chief of Police hasn’t seen a porkpie in Crossroads for decades, but old Mrs. Jones can tell you all about it. I wasn’t familiar with the hat until I wrote this story. Now I have one of my own!

I admit unusual characters pop into my head. Not your typical protagonist for someone who writes from a Christian worldview, Adam Bender showed up in my imagination after I wrote some blog posts about atheism. Those posts drew more response than I expected from the atheist community. Some were not so kind, but others wanted only to exchange ideas and explain their views in a non-confrontational manner. That’s when this easy-going, fictitious atheist began speaking to the writer in me. I let him talk for a while, and then I had to tell his story.

Cold Case Pursuit" by Dana Mentink is part of a series but it was an enjoyable read as a standalone. This book features a killer clown which might be a trigger for people who are scared of clowns like my niece. This book has a great plot,and lots of suspense. Of course, the dogs and a little girl named Rain are bonus. I love Dana Mentink's books as her books always has a Christian message and this book has this message "You are loveable and loved because God says so."

I love book covers with adorable children on them, don’t you? There’s something so angelic about those wee folks on the covers. I have two bear cubs myself, young adults now, and I love them devotedly. Tell you what though. Sometimes, just occasionally mind you, they were a wee bit naughty. Don’t tell anyone, but one reason I enjoyed writing Cold Case Pursuit so much is that hero Tyler is the single dad of a little girl named Rain who is….er…a handful. Sure, she’s adorable, but she’s prone to disobedience and the occasional tendency to flush things down the toilet. So in addition to the edge of your seat pursuit of a murderous clown killer, there are the shenanigans of a precocious preschooler, a highly trained yet distractible police K-9, and a romance that doesn’t exactly run smoothly. Fun to write? You betcha! I hope you enjoy coming along with me on this True Blue adventure!

"Journey Back Home" by Cheri Swalwell is the second book in ":The Redemption of Green Pines" series but it can be read as a stand alone but I read the first book first and I am glad I did because we first meet Holly in it.

This novel is a story about how marriages can appeared to be great, but in reality are really struggling. This novel could be the "real story" of any family in the world.

This novel is definitely a 5 star read.

I felt my heart crying reading both of these books. These books show that forgiveness and hope are available if we trust Jesus even if things don't turn out the way we plan.

I am eagerly awaiting Book 3 to the series.

I recommend this book to all readers who want to be inspired and want to be reminded that you are never without our Father's love.

Journey Back Home was the first novel I ever wrote. The way God downloaded it into my heart was by sharing Simone’s side of the story first. Her journey is shared in the book through a series of diary entries. So I basically wrote the middle of the book first, then the ending, and then went back and wrote the beginning. It was definitely God who tied it all together so nicely.

When I finished writing Journey Back Home, it sat in my computer folders for six years. During that time God took fiction away from me, and gave me the platform of nonfiction. Two years ago, He lovingly gave me fiction back and I pulled it out, dusted it off, and started getting it ready to publish.

However, I realized it wasn’t a standalone book anymore. It was a community, a tight-knit group of people who had much more they wanted to share with readers. And I knew I needed to start with Holly’s story. Adventure’s Invitation, Book 1 of The Redemption of Green Pines, tells Holly’s background which is an integral part of Journey Back Home.

I hope you fall in love with Jace, Simone, their four children, and of course Holly as much as I have. If so, get ready because there are many more people to grow to love in all six books of The Redemption of Green Pines series.

I have to be honest and say I liked the fact that his book was split-time. I wished there was more of the story involving Elyna and Burke. I also have to be honest and say that this book wasn't my cup of tea, I really had a hard time getting into and really found it hard to keep reading. I did finally get into the book when I got to the last chapter and wanted more. I really felt Sienna Rothesay's pain when her grandfather didn't remember her because of Alzheimer. ( I remember praying that when my grandma was losing parts of her memory, that she wouldn't forget me and God honored that prayer).

This story could also be a love story but is more of correcting the past.
