Winter’s Treasure

Paris Kauffman believes she is about to embark on her family-tradition birthday treasure hunt, but for the first time ever, her daed is sending her to various businesses and homes in the community. Little does Paris expect that when she enters the bakery to collect her gift, the bus will drop off none other than her old crush, Aquila Stutzman, the man she’d done everything except cartwheels and handstands to get his attention. And failed. Of course, Quil doesn’t remember her. Quil was offered employment working on his grandparents’ new tree farm in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Since he’s recovering from a broken heart when his longtime girlfriend Priscilla up and married his cousin, a move Quil never saw coming, he decides to take the job. This will give him time to separate himself from the hurt and maybe, eventually, move on. Paris and Quil have sparks from the beginning, especially since his appearance causes a vicious rivalry between friends. But who can resist when a chance meeting beginning with donuts and coffee ends with a missing person, puppies, a skunk, and a sleigh ride—not to mention a trip the Amish young people plan to Niagara Falls. Could it also involve falling in love?

Mistletoe and Miracles

Daniel Graber has spent years caring for his aging parents. Now Daed’s in rehab with a broken hip and a bad case of irritability. He snaps at the workers and complains about doing physical therapy, so Daniel is grateful for the new aide, Fern Chupp, who uses her sweetness and charm to convince Daed to cooperate. Turns out, Daed isn’t the only one she charms. As a widow, Fern is grateful for her new job at Fairview Rehab Center, even though it meant relocating to Ephrata, Pennsylvania, with her nine-year-old daughter, Lyddie. But Lyddie is grieving the recent death of her grandfather and dislikes leaving her Ohio home. Lyddie’s shyness also makes it difficult to make friends or recite school lessons. When her class goes to the rehab center to interview patients, Lyddie’s too scared to do her assignment, so she runs away. During the hunt for her missing daughter, independent Fern learns to accept and appreciate Daniel’s help and support. By the time they discover Lyddie, she’s made a very unusual friend, and Fern and Daniel have developed a . Can four lonely heart create special bonds to make it a Christmas to remember?

My Review:

"Love’s Christmas Blessings" by Laura V Hilton, Rachel J Good are two stories that are feel good stories and make the readers feel that special Christmas Spirit. Both stories are about people that need to know they are loved and they get their happy ever after at Christmas.

My favorite of the two is "Mistletoe and Miracles" by Rachel J Good because of Lydia, a shy young girl that loved to read and befriends a grumpy old man. I thoroughly enjoyed reading both stories.

One story is based on a scavenger hunt for a birthday present and even thought this story is a happy one. there is someone that is jealous and tries to ruin the day for the birthday girl.  The other is based at a rehab center.

I was given a complimentary copy by the authors and Celebrate Lit. These opinions are my own.

"Predestined Love" by Marshalee Patterson

"Predestined Love" is a story of surrendering to God's perfect will for your life." ********
“This short Inspirational Christian Novella is an endearing story about love and faith; the assurance that God answers prayers, that despite trials and tribulations and suffering, one’s faith in the love and power of God will ultimately bear fruit and bring triumph over adversity.”
Travelling to Italy was Maria's way of escaping her past and beginning a new life. After being used and treated as cheap by men because of poor judgement, Maria prayed and left her fate in God's Hands to find her the perfect match.
When God answered Maria’s prayer and sent her His choice, someone from her past came to claim what he thought was his.
Will he succeed in ruining the future Maria had trusted God to secure for her?

My Review:

"Predestined Love" by Marshalee Patterson is a cute story of love and waiting on God to bring the right mate to you.  There is a scene that might be offensive to some, attempted rape.  I don't like reading about this subject but it does happen.

I think my favorite character is Peter. I am really glad that he had a happy ever after in this story.

I liked the story for the most part but there was a few things that bothered me, Maria living with Gary, they weren't in a physical relationship but Gary telling Marco if he didn't believe God had chosen Him for Maria he wouldn't have let her go out with him. Maria is a grown woman.  And I don't think Christians should say someone has the hots for another person. There were a few other issues but I think it might be that this is the first book that this author has written.

The things I do like is that most of the characters relied on God and prayed and that God wasn't just someone they prayed to when things went wrong.  I like that the story showed that faith does produce good results in life.

I still recommend reading this story because as I have already stated it is a cute story.

I won this book in a chat on Facebook. These opinions are my own.

Author Info

Marshalee Patterson has loved reading since she could walk. Growing up without a television sparked in her a love for reading and the world of imagination. She wrote her first novella-Predestined Love after travelling to Italy and wanted to write a romance novel about it, but then left it on her computer, saying when it's time to publish it, the Lord would open that door for her.

It was five years later, that the Lord led her to another author- Claudette Brady Beckford, who guided her to the world of self-publishing. Since then the Lord has been teaching her a lot about spiritual warfare and understanding dreams and their importance. This led to her second book, a Christian Romance Thriller- 'The Path of the Chosen Warrior,' filled with lots of action about the demonic and the supernatural realm.

Her main focus of writing is Contemporary Christian Romance/family books which will uplift, encourage and teach readers how to walk right and also how to pray, through the lives of everyday characters. Marshalee loves dancing salsa and the tranquillity of nature.
She is a proud Jamaican.

"The Unannounced Christmas Visitor" by Patrick Higgins Book Tour And GiveAway

About the Book

Book: The Unannounced Christmas Visitor
Author: Patrick Higgins
Genre: Christian fiction/Christmas
Release Date: November 18, 2014

What if angels really did come from the most unlikely of places? That’s exactly what happens in this heartwarming story, set in a homeless community in Anywhere USA. Sent to Planet Earth by his Maker, disguised as a homeless person, Enoch was on a mission: to rescue a man whose life was slowly but steadily spiraling out of control Inspired by Hebrews 13:2, “Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it,” this story will stir your soul like never before, guaranteed! 2016 IPA (INTERNATIONAL PUBLISHER AWARDS) GOLD MEDAL AWARD WINNER.

My Review:
"The Unannounced Christmas Visitor" by Patrick Higgins is without a doubt my favorite best fictional book about Christmas and the power of God's love that I have read this year.

The author uses the Biblical references throughout the story in a way that you get the Gospel but it doesn't feel like you are being preached at. When Enoch, an angel disguised as a homeless person, asks characters questions such as "What are you sowing that you don't want to reap" it makes this reader stop and ask herself the same questions. There are other such questions in this story.

This story is about a married man who finds himself dissatisfied with life and his job and his marriage is suffering as well as his children. It is also about helping homeless people and finding out what real Christianity is. This story was inspired in part by the Christian feeding ministry of Jesus Loves You, Love Him Back.

This story isn't true but I believe it is happening everywhere, well all but Enoch being disguised as an homeless man. But, then again maybe that is true because this story was written using Hebrews 13:2, “Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it,” as the plot line.

This story will give you a new awareness of what living the Christian life really is and make you more aware of what homeless people go through.

At the start of the story, a homeless man is ushered out of his seat in the front pew of the church just because of his appearance, thus bringing to the story the Scripture , John 2: 2-4 "Suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing a gold ring and fine clothes, and a poor man in shabby clothes also comes in. 3 If you lavish attention on the man in fine clothes and say, “Here is a seat of honor,”but say to the poor man “You must stand,” or, “Sit at my feet,” 4 have you not discriminated among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts?…

I recommend  "The Unannounced Christmas Visitor" by Patrick Higgins to any reader who enjoys stories of Christmas or just feel good stories and stories of forgiveness and personal growth. I also recommend this book to any Christian who wants to reexamine themselves. Yes, I know the Bible is the best book to reexamine yourself but this book clearly points the way to verses to lead you in that search.

And I say this book is a good one to read anytime of the year, not just at  Christmas.

I was given a complimentary copy by the author and Celebrate Lit. These opinions are my own.

"Chosen People" by Robert Whitlow BookTour and GiveAway

About the Book

Book: Chosen People
Author: Robert Whitlow
Genre: Legal Drama
Release Date: November 6, 2018
Publisher: HarperCollins

Bestselling author Robert Whitlow dives deep into the legal ramifications of a tragic event half a world away and how it affects two lawyers in Atlanta from vastly different backgrounds. When Hana Abboud walked into the conference room, she was unprepared for the images of a horrific terrorist attack near the Western Wall in Jerusalem. But after watching a courageous mother sacrifice her life to save her four-year-old daughter, Hana knew she needed to help attorney Jakob Brodsky represent the family’s pursuit of justice against those who perpetrate acts of violent jihad. As an Arab Israeli lawyer trained at Hebrew University, Hana is uniquely qualified to step into the gap. But they need a third partner, an investigator on the ground to help them unravel the snake pit of connections between the terrorists and an organization or company that can be sued in the American courts. Hana returns home to Israel and meets with investigator Hamid Hasan who quickly becomes more than a crucial part of the litigation team. As Jakob and Hana investigate the case in the US, he is stalked on the streets of Atlanta by affiliates of a terrorist organization. Their pursuit of truth can only be resolved where it began: the streets of Jerusalem. But who can they trust? How deep does deceit go? Can two lawyers and a shadowy investigator impact the kind of violence and terror that has become common in our broken world?

My Review
"Chosen People" by Robert Whitlow is a story about a young mother who sacrificed her life to save her  daughter. It is also a story about terrorists and a lawyer that tries to find out if the attack was a lone act or part of a group. It is also a love story.

The scenes are written so very well that the reader knows the author knows his material. I really liked the descriptions of the area because I want to go to Jerusalem some day but I don't see that happening so I pretend I'm there when I'm reading books that are written as well as " Chosen People" is.

I have to say that I really loved that the little girl that was saved by her mother was named Sadie.

I like that the story wasn't just a story but it also lets the reader see into the character's hearts and feel the character's feelings.

I really thought I knew how it was going to play out between Sadie's father and Hana, the Arab lawyer,  but I am happy to say I was wrong and the ending is much better  then I have it going.

This story is really about the hatred of Jews and that God is keeping His promise to them and bringing them back to Israel.

In the story, Hana is reminded of the Scripture Isaiah 12:2 " Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, The Lord Himself, is my strength and my defense; He has become my salvation."  She also was reminded that Daniel spent a night in the lion's den, Paul was whipped and beaten. She was reminded that sometimes God delivered people from danger and other times he was with them as they passed through it.

I recommend this book if you like a realistic novel about terrorist attacks and lawyers.  I didn't want to put this book down untill the last page and then I wanted to keep reading more.

This was the first book that I have read by Robert Whitlow, but I can honesty say it will not be my last.

There was one scene while reading it that I thought ok I don't like this book but I am glad it wasn't the way it seemed at all.  This scene just proved to me, that sometimes things aren't the way they appeared and you have to hold on and have faith that all things work for the good, yes even in fiction that is so real life.

I was given a complimentary copy by the author and Celebrate Lit. These opinions are my own.

Inside the Story

Chosen People—a title that reflects both the Biblical designation for the Jewish nation as well as converted Christians—opens during a terrorist attack near the Western Wall in Jerusalem. A courageous mother sacrifices her life to save her young daughter, leaving behind a grieving husband and a motherless child. Whitlow’s many trips to Israel and his in-depth research into the culture and laws of the Holy City are evident throughout the story. Furthermore, his experience as a lawyer gives him keen insight into the mind of his main character Hanna Abboud, an Arab Christian Israeli lawyer working in Atlanta. “This book provides a unique perspective to this region and its peoples through the eyes of an Arab Christian who believes that the faithfulness of God and truths of the Bible are unshakable realities,” says Whitlow. “This viewpoint is rarely expressed, yet it is one that needs and deserves to be heard so that it can become part of our framework for understanding this vital part of the world and the people who live there.”

My Review:
"Christmas Love Year Round" by Elaine Stock a wonderful book that has romance, family drama, and faith in a clean inspiring read. This book shows that forgiveness is possible and really is for the best.  It also shows that people can over come their past. It also has life provoking statements written into the plot such as this statement " Look below the veneer most people use as a shield and see flaws or bad times or both. None of us are innocent or are lucky enough to escape rough times." Here's another " Funny how we easily find solace in God when things go right, but not when life tilts in the wrong direction," and one more, "Know that God loves you, and wants to forgive you of any wrongdoings. The Lord is great, is almighty, and doesn't want to cast you away as an unloved, forgotten child. He is your Father. He wants you in His heart, always."

This book is a great read at Christmas time and even though it is written as a Christmas story it is one that a reader could enjoy anytime they needed to be reminded that love is available year round as long as we are willing to accept it.

This story has many issues within it's pages, childhood bullying, father and son not seeing eye-to eye about past bullies, guilt left family members after death dealing with mental illness and a vow not to forgive others.

This is a feel good novel. I see that this is book one in the series and I'm not sure if the other books will be stand alones or continue with Gavin and Cami or if will be new couples but I want to read more about Gavin's dad.

I recommend this book to all readers who likes clean reads and Christmas stories and stories involving children and coming back to God.

I was given a complimentary copy by the author and Celebrate Lit. These opinions are my own.

Guest Post from Elaine

To love someone with all of your heart is the only thing that matters in this world. Readers often ask the origin of a story idea. When I wrote my first published novel, Always With You, I was asked if my husband was a white supremacist. No! When Her Good Girl released, the questions of whether my mother practiced Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy popped up as well. Although my mother unfortunately did suffer another mental illness, it wasn’t MSP. And now Christmas Love Year Round, Book 1 of the Kindred Lake romance series, is on sale. What does fuel my writing? What is a connecting theme between the stories I write? Love. Love is the most essential relationship we must share between all…between family members, friends, neighbors…between strangers, enemies, those who live differently than us, and foreign countries. A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another. John 13:34-35 (NIV) Yet, isn’t honest love the hardest thing to do? Perhaps it is also the most difficult virtue to teach and the most vexing passion to express. Imagine this scenario: You’re a widowed mom with an impressionable eight-year-old son. Your conscience is riddled with the worry that you might have pushed your husband toward his death, and that’s on top of the weight bearing down on you from your childhood days of participating with others to bully a particular family in town. Then, the one boy who was part of that picked-upon family, now a grown man and stirringly handsome purchases the house across the street from you. You’ll likely see him every day. And, with a gulp, you realize…that you want to see him. That actually, despite all that transpired between the two of you back in high school, you’re Attracted to him with a Capital A. Might that magnetism between the two of you be mutual? This is the set-up between Cami and Gavin in Christmas Love Year Round. Will these two former adversaries forgive not only each other but themselves as well and take loving one’s neighbor to the next step of falling in love and making amends into amens? May each of you be blessed with love and joy year round!
