"Deadly Christmas Pretense" by Dana Mentink is the second book in the "Roughwater Ranch Cowboys "series and I really think a reader would enjoy it as a standalone, but like always I am glad I read the first one.

This book kept me reading because I had to know who and why a killer was trying to kill Tammy and her sister.   The ending was a surprise.  This book is a story about greed and the things desperate men do to get money.

My favorite character in this story is Jingles who is a dog. You might be asking why? It is because he was the hero in a couple of the scenes. I encourage you to read this book and find out how he saved the day at least twice in the story.

This story is based around Christmas time, but it isn't really a Christmas story but it does have Christmas trees and one present is brought in the story.

This book is definitely filled with dangers and twists which makes it a exciting read.

I was given a complimentary copy by the author and Celebrate Lit. These opinions are mine own.

More from Dana

I just love Christmas, don’t you? In our area we have a lovely holiday train. It’s an old steam type train which is decked out in lights for festive holiday tours. I was so thrilled that this cover features just such a train. Of course, in the novel the train is the scene of hair raising danger! Maggie, our heroine in this novel, is a cook. She serves up some mouth watering dishes (when she’s not dodging a killer.) I thought perhaps you might enjoy a Mentink holiday family recipe! God bless you as we enter this holiday season!
